Painting with Suzanne

This is a blog for all those who are interested in joining my painting class in Katy at Michael's on Westheimer at Grand Parkway. I have recently changed the class time to Monday, 9:30am - 11:30am.
I will be updating this blog at least once a week to keep everybody up to date.
Here is the schedule for the next few weeks.
Jan. 10  -  Landscapes
Jan. 17  -  Floral 1
Jan. 24  -  Floral 2
Jan. 31  -  Seascape
Feb.  7  -  Still Life
Feb. 14  -  Abstract Form 1
Feb. 21  -  Abstract Form 2
Feb. 28  -  Abstract Form 3
Many of you have expressed the wish to learn more about art as a whole and not so much "just painting flowers". I have created a schedule using lesson plans provided to me by Grumbacher Paints, who is my sponsor for this class. When I have exhausted these lessons, I will begin lessons I have created specially for this class, beginning with Abstract Form 1.
All classes will require the $27 fee paid to Michael's, which actually covers the rent for the classroom and supplies as listed for each class, which includes the acrylic starter kit plus a few other items. Everybody will always have at least one painting they can take home at the end of the class.
Please feel free to email me anytime at confident_realm@yahoo.com with any questions. See the paintings I have posted on this blog for examples of paintings we will make together.
See you all Monday!

Welcome to Painting with Suzanne 2011

I created this blog in order to keep all my art students up to date on everything that is going on in my painting class in Michael's Arts & Crafts in Katy, Texas.
I began demonstrating acrylic painting in late 2010 in the store and created interest prior to the holiday shopping season but as most things in December, got stuck in the background within the store.
In 2011, the Painting with Suzanne class has begun a new day and time. We are now meeting 9:30-11:30 on Mondays. This seems to be the time most requested by everybody who has attended.
I am currently setting up a  schedule for lessons for the next few months. There are some required lessons to follow from my sponsor, Grumbacher Paints and ChartPak Art Products.
This week, January 3, 2011, we will be painting a floral scene. You will need the following items in order to get the correct effect for the painting:
One painting kit from Grumbacher Paint which includes red, yellow, blue and white Academy Acrylic Paint, 2 brushes, 2 canvas boards, and one palette knife.
In addition to this kit you might want to bring a plastic cup, paper plate, and additional canvas boards as found in Michael's.
Other colors you might be interested in purchasing are Alizarin Crimson and Hooker's Green Academy Acrylic Paint. These two colors will be essential in getting the correct coloration for this painting.
At the end of the lesson you will have a painting you can take home and frame.
As I create the lesson plans, I will post them on this blog. Please follow the blog in order to get the latest update. Thank you for painting with Suzanne.
